whomever the foot belongs to in the photo appears to not be a barefoot runner. The soles are void of any toughening or staining. Also, barefooters run on the forefoot and can avoid heel injury through conditioned tactile reactions. I think this was either an unexperienced barefooter or something else happened.

This was my sons first attempt at Barefoot running. He now has a pair of Vibrams :-)
How did that happen? What caused it?
